Arrival Dar es Salaam, 3 nights Lake Manze Camp Selous, 3 nights Mdonya Old River Ruaha, 4 nights Lupita Island Resort Lake Tanganyika

Arrival Day 1 - Friday:

Arrive Dar es Salaam. Transfer to domestic terminal and fly to Selous Game Reserve (last flight departs 16.30; if you plan to arrive later in Dar, ask for the itinerary with overnight in Dar added)

On arrival at Siwandu airstrip, you will be greeted by your driver and guide in a 4x4 open-sided vehicle and driven the one hour to Lake Manze camp. The camp is simple but cosy and it is certainly exciting with animals passing through the camp daily.

Dinner and overnight Lake Manze camp (3 nights in total)

Day 2 – 3 Saturday – Sunday:

The Selous is the largest game reserve in Africa. Lake Manze camp is situated on the shores of Lake Manze.

To ensure your safety, Masaai guards will guide you between your tent and the lodge, especially at night when the feeling of the natural surroundings is at its most prevalent. The tents are slightly raised on earth mounds under clusters of doum palms overlooking the lake.

There is a comfortable shady sitting and dining area. Dining takes place in the thatched dining area in the daytime, and outside under the stars at night, with a campfire and the ever present Maasai to guard you.

Every day your experienced driver guide will take you to new diverse areas for you to really enjoy the amazing game the park has to offer. You will discuss with the managers and guides each evening and decide your program for next day – you can choose between a game drive and a boat safari each day, or a full day game drive with picnic lunch. If a Ranger is available you can ask for a walking safari on one of the mornings before breakfast – this is at a small extra cost.
Selous Game reserve is famous for its diversity of game and bird life to be found along the Rufiji river and four large lakes all reachable from the camp. The Lake Manze area is one of the richest for game in the entire Selous, both in the dry and wet seasons. Situated on the banks of the lake, guests get a chance to observe families of hippos, sunbathing crocodiles, plentiful elephants, herons and much more.

Day 4 – 6 (3 nights) Monday - Wednesday:

On Monday, after a leisurely breakfast you will be driven back to the airstrip and your flight to Ruaha National Park. The Ruaha is an enormous undeveloped wilderness with many varying ecosystems. It is especially rich in elephant, leopard and lion, containing 10% of the world’s lions. The largest park in Tanzania, it offers people the chance to really experience an amazing abundance of game throughout their stay.

On arrival at Msembe airstrip you will be met by your guide and driver in a 4x4 vehicle and driven to Mdonya Old River Camp. This small and exciting camp (12 tents) is for people looking for a genuine, off-the beaten track, round-the-campfire experience. The Ruaha is a little known (except to aficionados) destination and perhaps one of the most thrilling bush experiences you will enjoy. With just 12 tents, Mdonya Old River offers a personal service tailor-made to your needs, in the best place to be – amidst the game! In the western part of the Ruaha it is situated just a few kilometres from the Mdonya Falls and an exciting 1-2 hour game drive from the airstrip, Mdonya old River camp in its simplicity lets you relax.

Overnight Mdonya Old River camp (3 nights)

Day 7 – 10 (4 nights) Thursday - Sunday:

On Thursday morning you will fly the 1hr 45 minutes journey to Kipili, and Lupita Island’s private airstrip. Managers will be waiting to greet you as you land and take you on the short 15 minute boat ride to the private island of Lupita, which rises up out of the pristine sapphire waters of historic Lake Tanganyika in the remote southwestern region of Tanzania. Lupita Island is situated at the bottom of the lake just 140 km from the Zambian border. The island is prehistorically lush, extraordinarily beautiful.
Laze by the pool and order your favourite cocktail. Have a relaxing treatment in our spa with a view. Snorkel, swim or kayak. Join a sundowner cruise and observe the most spectacular sunsets. Swim in a mile of water and drink the water while swimming, this is still one of the cleanest lakes in the world.
Each breath-taking villa is one of just 10 sumptuous open-air suites perched on the hillside, delivering peace and ultra-comfort. Sink into the personal plunge pool each cottage provides. Water-sports, swimming, a village visit, nature walks, a work out in the gym, a game of pool, relaxing on deserted beaches are a preface to fine dining and blissful evenings under the stars. Socialise at the dhow bar sipping your favourite cocktail. Join us for a fun-filled afternoon on a deserted beach with a sumptuous cold buffet, ice cold drinks and delicious wines. Beach games and snorkeling around the fascinating rocks crowded with beautiful colourful fish - many only exclusively found around our island. Walk down to our beach for a swim and a refreshing drink at our beach bar. Do as much or as little as you want.
