Elephants in Tarangire National Park

Day 2 Saturday:

Early morning collection after breakfast by a private driver guide with our 4 x4 safari land cruiser. Drive to Tarangire National Park, approx one and a half hours, arriving at Tarangire and the start of the first game drive in the park. Famous for its elephant and buffalo. Tarangire lends itself to a wonderful introduction to a real African experience. Picnic lunch with ice cold drinks. A leisurely afternoon following the game. In the evening heading to a delightful camp situated in a wild savannah bush location near Tarangire and Lake Manyara - Isoitok camp.

An intimate private rustic camp encompassing a grass root cultural experience and a true look behind the scenes into Maasai culture. Incredibly comfortable and friendly. Sundowner drinks on the bluff overlooking Masaailand followed by a delicious 3 course dinner by candlelight.

The night chorus in the form of crickets, cicadas and tree frogs is always present; and to pull one from a dreamy sleep the following morning, a chorus of bird song follows thereafter to be enjoyed with freshly brewed Kilimanjaro coffee.

The Isoitok Camp location is perfect for exploring the surrounding three prime wildlife areas. It is a good base from which to conduct day trips out to Tarangire National Park and also to the Ngorongoro Crater. Take an early evening walk to the view point with a drink of your choice and take in the magnificent vistas as far as the eye can see. Walks will be accompanied by one of the Isoitok staff members.

Day 3 Sunday:

Early morning departure with personal driver guide to Ngorongoro Crater. An hour’s drive to the descent road.

Inside the Ngorongoro Crater

Spend the day in the most famous Crater in the world. 110 sq miles of game. Maybe spot a rhino, see the herds of game and the prides of lion as they sleep under the trees or try for a kill.  Picnic lunch in an acacia forest and an afternoon discovering the game on the lake shore.

Plantation Lodge in the Ngorongoro Lowlands

Late afternoon ascent and make your way to Plantation Lodge (or similar) situated in the Ngorongoro Lowlands.
The location is magnificent, set in the heart of ‘Maasai country’ a once prominent coffee plantation, now still keeping the ambience of bygone days.

Day 4 – 7 (3 nights) Monday to Thursday:

After an early breakfast the guide will drive you to Manyara airstrip for the scheduled flight into Serengeti where you will be met on arrival by a new guide and 4 x 4 vehicle.

Drive to Chaka Camp (or similar), game viewing along the way on the famous Serengeti plains. Spot herds of wildebeest and game as far as the eye can see. Huge herds of zebra following the great migration.

Arrive at camp to unpack and settle in, a delicious lunch awaits. Siesta, afternoon game drive, evening showers and cocktails under the stars.

Private en suite tents with shaded verandas overlooking the Serengeti will be home for 3 days. Early morning tea or coffee is brought to the tent on request each morning to sip on the veranda before the start of each day.

Evenings around the fire followed by a sumptuous dinner and fine wines. Each day will be a new experience.

Experienced guides know where the best places are to follow and watch the game. From late June to late November, Chaka Camp is located in Northern Serengeti. The camp is close to the Mara river and the famous crossings, and most of the migration, allowing easy access to crossing points in the area. During this time of year, the wildebeest migration is crossing back and forth between Tanzania and Kenya.  You will see large cats lying under trees following the herds waiting for an opportunity to fill their stomachs. Follow the great migration across the plains.

You may choose to do a balloon trip over the Serengeti one morning (an optional extra), followed by a champagne breakfast on the banks of the Mara River. Buffet lunch on the plains or a delicious lunch in camp.

Ice cold drinks on the great Serengeti as the guide stops each evening watching the sun sink below the horizon, the final glow of another incredible day.

Day 7 to 11 Thursday to Monday (4 nights):

Lupita island. Early morning transfer from camp to Kogatende airstrip where your charter flight will be waiting.
Fly from Serengeti to Kipili (Lupita Island’s private airstrip) and the grand finale to a wonderful African experience.

Transfer by boat to the Island only 10 minutes away. Relaxation and plenty of activities await.

Lupita Island rises up out of the pristine sapphire waters of historic Lake Tanganyika in the remote southwestern region of Tanzania.

Each breath-taking villa is one of just 13 sumptuous open-air suites perched high on the hillside, delivering peace and ultra-comfort. Meditate by the stream that runs through the suite or wade into a personal plunge pool. Water-sports, swimming, a village visit, nature walks, a work out in the gym, a game of pool, relaxing on deserted beaches are a preface to fine dining and blissful evenings under the stars in our boma, or sit in the dhow bar sipping favourite cocktails.

The island is prehistorically lush, extraordinarily private. On our 110 acres of privacy you are free to laze by the pool and order a favourite cocktail to enjoy with a good book from our library. Visit the spa, or have a private massage alone or with a partner in our spa with a view.

Snorkel, swim or take out a kayak alone or with a water guide into the pristine waters. Join us on one of our boats for sundowners and observe the most spectacular sunsets. Swim in a mile of water and drink the water while swimming, this is still one of the cleanest lakes in the world.

Join us for a fun filled afternoon on a deserted beach with a sumtuous cold buffet, ice cold drinks and delicious wines. Beach games and snorkeling around the fascinating rocks found just below the surface, crowded with beautiful colourful fish, many exclusively found around our island. Climb among groups of huge boulders, or walk down to our beach for a swim, a refreshing drink at our beach bar. Skip stones from the sand. Let our guide be an escort on a wonderful invigorating kayak or snorkeling excursion around the island and beyond.

Lupita island is an experience that will stay with you forever...rustic luxury and unadulterated pleasure.
